Delete your Hexagon account
Hexagon Private Messenger · the operator of Hexagon Private Messenger
Delete it in the app
Android
Open Hexagon → Settings → Backup & Delete → Delete Account, then confirm.
You can do this from any device where you can still sign in. Deletion takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
What is deleted
- Your profile: Hexagon ID, display name, public keys and pre-keys, and your login.
- Your contact list and blocks, and your entries in other people's contact lists.
- All messages you sent or received and your one-to-one conversations, receipts, typing indicators, call records and shared locations.
- Your group memberships and the group messages you sent. Groups you created are handed over to another member so that the other members keep their conversation; a group with no other members is deleted.
- Your push tokens.
- Your encrypted media files are removed from storage within 24 hours.
What may remain, and for how long
- Encrypted server backups: copies on the server are deleted after 4 days at the latest; the off-site copies are rotated (up to 14 daily, 8 weekly and 6 monthly backups), so your data can remain in an encrypted backup for up to about six months.
- Technical logs: the proxy's access log contains no IP addresses and is kept for 7 days; error and system logs, which can contain an IP address, are kept for up to 14 days.
- Sign-in events of the authentication service (time, kind of event, your internal account identifier — no IP address) are currently not deleted together with the account; we are introducing automatic deletion after 30 days.
- Abuse reports filed about your account are kept for up to 12 months after the deletion, so that abuse cannot be erased by deleting the account; reports you filed are deleted together with your account.
- If we took a moderation action on your account (for example a suspension, or a deletion you asked us for), the record of that action stays in our unalterable moderation log.
- Copies on other people's devices — messages they already received — are under their control.
- Encrypted backup files (
.hxg) you exported yourself are not on our servers; delete them where you stored them. - A licence key or a Google Play purchase is not part of your account and is not affected.
Can't sign in any more?
Hexagon has no phone number or e-mail on file, so we cannot confirm who owns an account from the outside. If you still have an encrypted backup, restore it in the app (Import Backup) and delete the account from there. Otherwise write to support@hexagon.pm with your Hexagon ID: we reply within 30 days and will delete the account once ownership can be established (for example a message from the account to our support ID). Accounts that stay inactive are not used for anything.
